Over the summer, Amy Blosser, director of Bexley Choirs met with Kelly Winner, choral director for Columbus Public School’s Arts Impact Middle School to discuss how to move forward with their students with so much tension, discord and hate in the nation. That discussion sparked the formation of CommUNITY Sing!, a new event where students from diverse backgrounds could come together around music.

At 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Franklin Park Amphitheater choirs from Bexley Middle School, Columbus’ Arts Impact Middle School and Whitehall’s Rosemore Middle School will lead a community sing inspired by the desire to learn more about and respect the differences in each other.

The event will feature all three choirs singing combined selections where they will lead those in attendance in a group singing experience. In addition to the music, the choir directors are planning to invite speakers such as local law enforcement and community leaders. The event is free and open to the community.
