Steven Spangler
Steven Spangler is the Director of Orchestras at Bexley High School, Middle School, Montrose Elementary, Maryland Elementary, and Cassingham Elementary.
After graduating from Muskingum University in 2007, Steven began his career as the instrumental music director of Lake Havasu High School in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. While in Lake Havasu, he created and cultivated the first ever orchestra program for the Lake Havasu Unified School District.
In 2011, Steven began teaching for Memphis City Schools in Memphis, Tennessee. While in Memphis, he was a founding teacher of the Maxine Smith STEAM Academy and their band and orchestra director. After only two years at the Maxine Smith STEAM Academy over 65% of the school population were active participants of the instrumental music program. In 2017, this program expanded to include the T-STEM Academy at East High School.
Throughout his career, Steven has performed with countless performing groups including symphonies, jazz ensembles, blues musicians, soul artists and more. While in Memphis, he served as the rehearsal chair for the West Tennessee Band and Orchestra Association regional honors orchestra, as well as a board member for the Memphis Youth Symphony Program, and was named a guest conductor for the inaugural MYSP Wind Ensemble Weekend.
