Bexley Music Parents has had the opportunity to accomplish many wonderful things for our school district music programs! Along with being an advocate, we also have the opportunity to partner with teachers to fund special experiences that students would not otherwise have.
Senior Scholarship
BMP awards a scholarship to a Senior, selected by the music teachers, who has gone above and beyond in supporting the music programs.
Elementary and Middle School Activities
"Freedom Sings!" Grades 5-8 enjoyed a concert by the band featuring songs focused on freedom of speech, with their backstories narrated by former USA Today Editor-in-Chief Ken Paulson.
Orchestra
In place of OMEA competition an innovative mock contest was held in January 2018. BMP support brought three judges to adjudicate, provide feedback after the performance, and work with students in a clinic.
Choir
BMP partnered with the choral program to bring Dr. Eric Barnum to campus in 2018 to work with all high school singers as an artist and composer in residence. Vocal Ensemble students performed a commissioned piece, Voyager, written specifically for them.
Band
BMP provided funds for Dr. Shawn Vondran to work with the HS and MS band as an artist in residence. The students benefited from his direction and feedback during his 2-day visit.
Jazz Band
BMP funds supported admission for the MS Jazz Band to participate in the Capital University Jazz Festival and the HS Jazz Band to participate in the Beavercreek Jazz Festival.
Thank you for your donation! We appreciate any extra support you can provide - it will allow us to accomplish many wonderful things in the future.
